Covid-19

Class Procedures

What to expect:

  1. Please bring your own mat, you can borrow ours but it is advised to bring your own. If you are having a reformer class then you do not need to bring anything.
  2. You must wear a mask before entering The Atrium.
  3. Please wait outside before your class starts, your teacher will come to the front door and welcome you in one at a time.
  4. As you enter the foyer at The Atrium you will be asked to sanitise your hands and have your temperature checked. We will then ask you some questions on how you are feeling and for conformation that to the best of your knowledge you do not have Covid-19 or been near someone else that does.
  5. You will then be told which 'pod' has been allocated to you - please see pictures below.
  6. You will then walk through our reception, remove your shoes (we recommend you wear shoes that are quick and easy to remove) and walk directly to your 'pod'. We also have a strict 'socks only studio' (so no bare feet), we recommend grip socks. We do have grip socks to sell at The Atrium. You can look at our online shop, purchase a pair and then have them ready to collect at your next class.
  7. You can use the chairs in reception should you need to sit down to remove your shoes. Please note they each have a sign on them. Green means they are clean and fine for you to use. Once you have finished using the chair please turn this sign over. It will then be red, this then informs staff it needs to be cleaned to be ready for the next person. If you see that it is already red please use another chair or ask a member of staff to assist you.
  8. As you enter the studio, please do not cross another persons 'pod'. Please use the galleys to move around the room. If you need a mat / pads your teacher can help once she has finished helping people enter the building. Each pod has been marked out to give you a generous area for your health and safety.
  9. Each client has their own clear plastic tub to place all your belongings in, within your pod. Here you will also find cleaning and sanitising products ready for you to use, you are welcome to wipe your area down before use.
  10. You may remove your mask whilst in your 'pod' and for the duration of your class. You must though put your mask back on if you leave your pod - even if this is to use the toilet.
  11. You will also see there are circles within each 'Pod' - this is the best place for you to put 'the head of your mat' if doing a mat class.
  12. It is advised that we keep rooms well ventilated, this means we will always have at least one window open. We know it is winter and cold, so please note you may need additional layers - especially on particularly cold days.
  13. Your teacher will then do their very best to give you a 'normal' class.
  14. Your teacher may remove their mask whilst in the studio, they will not enter the pods, they will only use the galleys to move around the room - this also means they will not be able to give any tactile cues. Please note: if it is a 1-1 class, your teacher will keep their mask on throughout the class.
  15. Your class may be a little shorter. Your teacher needs to get everyone in safely and they need to allow time at the end for cleaning and helping you leave safely too. We do leave 15 minutes between classes to ensure we have ample time but we are sure you understand there is now a lot more for us all to consider.
  16. Please clean your designated 'pod' after your class using the cleaning and sanitising products in your clear plastic tub. This includes any equipment used, the floor of your pod and your clear plastic tub that held your belongings. There is a bin by the door - please put your cleaning waste there as you exit the studio, with your mask on, using the galleys and mindful to not cross another pod.
  17. Ensure your mask is on before you leave your allocated pod as you prepare to leave the studio and The Atrium.
  18. Your teacher will make sure our reception area is clear before you leave the studio. As there could be a physio patient also trying to leave or enter for their appointment. In which case you will be asked to wait so we can ensure you all have ample room to maintain 2m distance.
  19. Your teacher will also prop all doors open to minimise high contact areas. Please try to touch as little as possible.
  20. Please leave swiftly. Please put your shoes on in the reception area (using the chairs if needed).
  21. Please do not 'chat' with other members of the class or your teacher at the end of the class, please exit swiftly. We know this feels unnatural and it is hard for us too. So please know if you do have a questions for your teacher you can email us and we will do all that we can to assist you.
  22. Should you need to use the toilet whilst at The Atrium, then of course are facilities are ready for you. Please note we now have a 'customer toilet' & a 'staff toilet'. Please only use the 'customer toilet'. This is so we can again minimise cross contamination! Please note the customer toilet has a sign on it (just like the chairs in reception). Green means it is clean and ready for you to use. Once you have finished using the toilet please turn this sign over. It will then be red, this then informs staff it needs to be cleaned to be ready for the next person. If you see that it is already red please ask a member of staff to assist you.
  23. Future bookings. Where possible please do online or over the phone. We have a part time receptionist that will help you. You can also email us.
  24. Your teacher will then clean the galleys of the studio and all high contact points before welcoming their next class in and starting the process again.
  25. We are all working hard behind the scenes to ensure Harris Mind & Body (HMB) at The Atrium remains a safe place for us all.
  26. Please note we have reduced our class size just to 7 people for mat classes and 5 people for our reformer classes. This is to ensure we operate safely and ensure we all have ample distance as we find our way through this pandemic. This means at the moment we are all working for the love of our job, your teacher and The Atrium will be really just covering their costs. We all do this happily and we would rather be teaching than not and the smile on your face does make it all worth while. I know we all look forward to being on the other side of this pandemic but in the meantime we must all do what we can to protect our loved ones and each other. So please note we are a no mask no entry establishment. Some of the patients that the physio's see are in the high risk group but their condition means they still need physio. All physios are in full PPE. So The Atrium will always go above and beyond to ensure our facilities and protocols do everything they can to help us all and that we are so grateful for your support
  27. Any questions please ask.
  28. We know it can be hard when we have to close classes as restrictions tighten - so please note we also have online pre-recorded classes that you can do rent and do at home. This can also be a great way to fit in addtional classes when you are at home or away.
